Farmers in Karnataka report significant income growth after joining Akshayakalpa Organic cooperative, promoting sustainable and profitable organic farming practices.
Bengaluru, November 5, 2025 – Farmers in Karnataka have reported considerable increases in their incomes after joining Akshayakalpa Organic, a cooperative dedicated to organic milk production and agriculture. The announcement was made by Shashi Kumar, CEO of Akshayakalpa Organic, in an exclusive interview with regional media on Wednesday.
Established to promote sustainable and organic farming practices, Akshayakalpa Organic supports farmers by providing technical training, access to organic inputs, and a guaranteed market for their produce. This model has helped farmers transition from conventional to organic agriculture, resulting in better product quality and higher market prices.
“Since becoming part of Akshayakalpa Organic, our farmers have seen their incomes increase significantly,” said Shashi Kumar. “The move to organic has not only improved the quality of their produce but has also opened up new premium markets, which reward them with better prices.”
According to Kumar, the cooperative currently supports over 3,000 farmers across Karnataka, focusing on dairy production and organic farming methods. Farmers receive assistance in maintaining organic standards, managing cattle health naturally, and adopting practices that enhance soil fertility without chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
The economic benefits are accompanied by environmental gains. Organic practices encouraged by Akshayakalpa reduce chemical runoff, preserve biodiversity, and promote healthier ecosystems, aligning with global sustainability goals.
Farmers involved with Akshayakalpa have reported increases in their monthly earnings, sometimes doubling compared to previous income levels derived from conventional farming. The cooperative’s model ensures that producers get fair prices while consumers receive pure, chemical-free organic products.
“Joining Akshayakalpa has transformed my livelihood,” said Ramesh, a farmer from Hassan district. “The support in farming techniques and assured purchase of my milk at good rates have boosted my family’s income and improved our quality of life.”
The cooperative also emphasizes community empowerment, ensuring farmers have a voice in decision-making processes and benefit collectively from the success of organic farming initiatives.
Looking ahead, Akshayakalpa Organic plans to expand its reach to more farmers in Karnataka and possibly other states, aiming to further promote organic agriculture’s benefits on both economic and environmental fronts.
The success of Akshayakalpa Organic underlines the growing momentum of organic farming in India, offering a replicable model that aligns farmers’ economic interests with sustainability.
